Why are late people always late?!
by Kathleen

This is random, but I gotta post a question to you guys: I have four friends that are always late.  Its at the point where I can just count on them being late. I’m not talking about 5 minutes either, I mean 20-30 minutes +. I often find myself telling them earlier meeting times just so that they arrive on time. haha My question to you guys is: if late people KNOW they’re always late, why are they still late?  Did that make sense?

I’m just wondering why they don’t keep in mind that they are always late and thus, start getting ready earlier? Don’t they care that they keep people waiting? What do you guys think? Any comments? Questions? Concerns? haha

This became a huge problem the first two years of college. Getting the girls to meet us on time for football games was a chore every week. If there is one thing you don’t want to be late for its meeting to go to a football game. We started telling them to meet us 15-20 minutes before we actually planned on meeting. They’d still be late, but it was slightly more tolerable. We finally started getting our tickets early and just giving everyone theirs so they could get to the seats whenever. This ended when we realized what great seats we could get by getting there early. People who couldn’t meet us on time were left to fend for themselves.

Before one game everyone was extremely late. We finally gave up on them. They had their tickets already so we had just been being nice trying to meet them beforehand. Finally after kickoff the group of girls showed up. Their hair was all done the same way. It wasn’t that they weren’t ready when we were waiting for them, they were doing their hair, before a football game! The group was banned from attending a PSU Football game with me again.

All I have to say is that people being late is out of shear irresponsibility. You would think that they would get ready earlier, but it just doesn’t happen. People care too much about their appearance, such as in mike’s story. I guess people just get used to disappointing their friends. It would seem that they may not really care about the people they hang out with, so they don’t really care if they are late. Solution: Set strict time limits and if they are not there on time, leave without them.
