I haven’t paid all that much attention to soundtracks over the past few years. Before the internet they were a great way to get a mix. Now its really only a decent soundtrack if its a musical of some sort.

Top honors for me goes to Angus, no question. Lots of big names and a bunch of other quality lesser known groups. The movie is great as well. My favorites from the disc:
Green Day – J.A.R. (My favorite Green Day song.)
Weezer – You Gave Your Love to Me Softly
Goo Goo Dolls – Ain’t That Unusual
Love Spit Love – Am I Wrong

    Other notables:
D2: The Mighty Ducks – We Will Rock You, Rock and Roll Part 2, Whoomp! (There It Is), Wild Thing, We Are the Champions; This one can stand on its own against any Jock Jams CD. I had this one on cassette.
Godzilla – Highlighted by Puff Daddy – Come With Me but also included a bunch of big names: The Wallflowers, Rage Against the Machine, Ben Folds, Fuel, Foo Fighters, Green Day, and Silverchair. This was a case where the soundtrack was much better than the movie.
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut – This one is fairly obvious.

I was targeting movies here, but special mention to the Friends soundtrack, the first one (I think there was more than one). This one was huge because of the theme song by The Rembrandts. It also had Hootie & The Blowfish (which was my other favorite CD at the time) and Barenaked Ladies. Looking at it now I don’t remember most of the tracks, but this CD was played so much it got worn out. As an added bonus, between some of the tracks were lines from the show. I think Smelly Cat may been one of those special surprises.

Soundtracks that i can think of off the top of my head that i listen to all the time:
    1) The Matrix – Manson, techno music, Rage, all good stuff.
    2) Forrest Gump – Classics from several decades
    3) O Brother, Where Art Thou?
    4) Blade Runner

They all have very different types of music, but they are all solid albums. :)
