I have a proposal. Fun. has to swap names with Matt & Kim. If any band should be called ‘Fun’, it’s Matt & Kim. What should fun. do having to be called Matt & Kim? They could just call themselves The Format. If they called themselves The Format they’d have to make songs as good as they were then. (Me = bitter than fun. is so popular when The Format made much better music.)
The new album is called Lightning and comes out October 2nd. You can pre-order the CD on Amazon, or as mp3s.

Covers are usually just ok. Every once in a while I find a good one, although it’s usually not a cover of a song I like a lot. In this case I like the original a lot and this cover is really well done. So listen.

Improv Everywhere – Mini-Golf
This Improv Everywhere reminds me of the Carousel one, in that a bunch of strangers are cheering on kids who have no idea what is going on.
I liked that ESPN pitched this one, I hope they give it some play on many of the ESPN properties. Also, good work by the US Open for offering up the Claret Jug for something like this. Almost seems like golf could be loosening up. Next up: tweeting caddies.

Oz the Great and Powerful – Trailer
How did I not know about this? A prequel to The Wizard of Oz. I guess it was about time. Just the idea of the backstory of how Oz came to Oz (which thing was named Oz first, already a question!) had me hooked. I’ll admit to being a little (lot?) disappionted to see James Franco leading this, but I’ll deal.
I mean, did you see the flying monkeys??? (They might be a little too CGI’d, I’d rather the original flying monkeys.)

If my jaw drops during a TED Talk, I have to share. It certainly did during this one and during the quick audience shot, I spotted a few with the same look.
I’m obviously curious to hear more about this an its potential. My one question to start, if that same disc being 2mm thick can support a small car, how do you adjust it? It can’t be as easy to manipulate as the very thin example he was using on stage. That thicker one would be really locked into place.

Comediants in Cars Getting Coffee
The first promo gave the concept, but there wasn’t much to it. Now, they give some content and it looks amazing.
Comediants in Cars Getting Coffee premieres July 19th on Crackle. Where is that? I’m not sure. I have an app, but I’ve never used it.

There are so many amazing things about the self-driving car that I didn’t take the time to think past how it would improve things for current drivers.
With blind drivers, I imagine a lot of things would need to be changed a bit. In the video, I was curious how the drive-thru person would react. What about the gas station?
How far can it go? Can you send your kids to school in a self-driving car?

Instead of making lists, I usually just declare everything my favorite. The quotes from this Funny Farm clip would be very close to the top of that list. Every time I have to give directions I be sure to throw in landmarks that no longer exist and turns before landmarks so it’s impossible to know where you are supposed to turn. These are especially hilarious when moving is involved. Only my family laughs at these.
There are few other scenes I remember from Funny Farm. It’s been a while. I remember the dog always running away and the mailman flying by the house and just tossing the mail out the window. I probably have it on DVD somewhere. Maybe over a break I’ll dig it up and dust it off.

I’ll admit, most of the reason I love this video is that it’s filmed around home. Lansdale. Hatfield. Then some Philly. But I do like me some Wonder Years (both the band and the TV show which I can finally watch completely now that it’s on Netflix).

Had this for a while, was waiting for a day that needed a dose of ridiculousness. This is better than all reality tv.

Yellowcard released an acoustic version of their last album, “When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes”. I’m of the opinion that the special edition of any Yellowcard should be the non-acoustic version. Just go ahead and release the acoustic edition first. Same goes with posting music videos, post on Vimeo first, then get around to YouTube.
