Giants @ Eagles, Sunday 1pm
Ahad: Westbrook’s injury will clearly hurt the offense. The keys for the Eagles will be simple. Control the Giants run game and the offensive line must play well. I think those two things will happen. Witherspoon looked impressive in his debut, but this game will be a much bigger test. So far Trotter has not made much of an impact. The crowd will play a role in this one with the World Series game that night also. All signs point to an Eagles victory. Pick: Birds
Evan: All signs point to an Eagles victory? Really? I respectfully disagree. I obviously am rooting for the Eagles so I will do what any logical superstitious person would do. Pick: Giants
Matt: The interesting thing about these two teams is that they have compiled most of their wins against the bottom feeders of the league. Each team has a win over Washington, Kansas City, and Tampa Bay, while Philly has a win over Carolina and New York has beaten Oakland. We will find out a lot about both of these teams come Sunday. The Giants are reeling having lost two straight and the Eagles are coming off a ho-hum performance against the Skins. If the Giants can keep the Eagles big play offense in check, I like their chances. Donovan better be prepared for lots of blitzing from Bill Sheridan’s D. Pick: Giants
Mike: The best chance for the Eagles is that the Giants DVR erased the Raiders game. The Giants should be able to frustrate the Eagles offense. The Giants are also the type of team that will make Desean pay for his 1:1 bigplay-to-bonehead play ratio. Honestly, I think the biggest concern here is what we’re going to do with this newly optimistic Ahad. Pick: Giants

Dolphins @ Jets, Sunday 1pm
Ahad: The Jets used the Raiders game to get things moving in the right direction again. Look for them to keep it going. Pick: Jets
Evan: I agree with Ahad. Pick: Jets
Matt: The Jets are looking for revenge in this one. The Dolphins have had a lot of tough losses this year, but they were able to take down the Jets in Week 5. They will keep it close, but the Jets will control the game with their defense and run game. Pick: Jets
Mike: So quick for a rematch. The Jets role to play is if Sanchez will decide to have a pickfest. Last matchup he did not, but he surrounded that game with 3-pick and 5-pick performances. The Jets might have nothing to do with how this game plays out. It likely will be how the Dolphins come out after that devastating loss to the Saints. Here is where coaching matters. The Dolphins were supposed to lose to the Saints, they showed have the talent to beat anyone. Ya know, as long as they stay the whole game. Pick: Dolphins

Broncos @ Ravens, Sunday 1pm
Ahad: The Ravens need this game a lot more than the Broncos do. Look for Ray Lewis and company to take it to Denver. Pick: Ravens
Evan: The Broncos are the greatest team ever. Baltimore’s defense has shown to be a fraud. Pick: Denver
Matt: I am liking this Denver team and they have had two weeks to prepare for this game. Baltimore is a very good team, but they have lost 3 close games in a row. It will be a close, defensive battle, but I expect Baltimore to squeak one out and give Denver their first loss of the season. Pick: Ravens
Mike: The Broncos are still undefeated? Doesn’t make any sense to me. The Ravens have been burning me. They’ve lost 3 straight to good teams. Both teams are coming off a bye, so that’s a wash. I really like how the Ravens finished the Vikings game. Pick: Ravens

Rams @ Lions, Sunday 1pm
Ahad: I don’t know of many people that would willingly watch this game. The loser of this game will be battling the Chiefs for the first pick in the draft. Pick: Lions
Evan: This is the other game that I had picked in the pre-season for the Lions to win (Redskins was the first). I see no reason to change my mind. Pick: Lions
Matt: Is Matt Stafford back for this game? Daunte Culpepper has been stinking it up, but it may not matter against the Rams. Detroit has been keeping things interesting in their games, playing well until after halftime. The Rams, on the other hand, have been blown out mostly except for two close games. I think Steven Jackson will have a big day, but it won’t be enough, like usual. Pick: Lions
Mike: With all the 1pm games, see if you can find the coverage for this one on the map. I like this game because I’m a fan of even matchups. Entertainment can come in two forms in football: scoring and mistakes. Who will make less mistakes? In turnovers the Rams are -7 and the Lions are -4. I was going to pick the Lions anyway, but there’s a stat I can blame when I get it wrong. Pick: Lions

Vikings @ Packers, Sunday 4:15pm
Ahad: I am so sick of all the Favre stories and they are only going to get worse. The Vikings are coming off their first loss and will be focused on getting things in the right direction again. Look for Childress to get the ball to Peterson a lot to take some of the spotlight off of Favre. The Packers will be more concerned about Favre’s return to Green Bay than actually winning the game. This will play into the Vikings favor. Pick: Vikings
Evan: Noise will be a factor. I think the Packers will learn more from their earlier contest then the Vikings will. It’s hard to beat a team twice unless they are a lot worse then you, and the Packers are not a lot worse than the Vikes. Pick: Packers
Matt: The Packers will have no shot in this game if they can’t protect Aaron Rodgers. Jared Allen was a beast with 4.5 sacks in the last game. The Packers should see a heavy dose of Adrian Peterson. The Vikings passed the ball way too much against the Steelers last week and it hurt them with the big turnovers. I see a late Favre score being the difference in the game and he punctuates it with a Lambeau Leap. Pick: Vikings
Mike: I’ve managed to avoid hearing about this game all week. How do I possess this special skill? Here’s a secret, during the week I get very little NFL exposure. I hardly ever watch SportsCenter and haven’t watched NFL Network all year. With all the World Series coverage I haven’t had to face all the front page stories. So what’s going to happen? Green Bay has cruised to their 4-2 record. They haven’t impressed me at all. This game was close last time. Favre is starting to get into the swing of bad turnovers again. Still, as I said, I have not been impressed by the Packers. I’ll be pulling for the Packers, even though I probably won’t watch. If you look at my picks record then you can see I mean that I’ll be pulling for them. Pick: Vikings
(Mike’s Note: I’m pretty sure Favre keeps coming back because he doesn’t want to retire until Ahad learns how to spell his name. I think I fixed them all.)

49ers @ Texans, Sunday 1pm
Mike: San Fran had a bye to think over getting demolished by the Falcons. The Texans are coming off a big win against the Bengals. Interrrresting. I still don’t like this Texans D, as I said before, they like giving up points. The 9ers get Gore back for this game. It should be tight and a big Schaub pass late could win it. Pick: 49ers
Ahad: The Texans are riding high from last week but the 49ers will bring them back to reality. Gore should be back and will provide a huge boost to the offense. Crabtree makes his debut and better show up to play if he is going to get any respect from his teammates. Pick: 49ers
Matt: I mentioned two weeks ago that Houston has the alternating wins and losses pattern, and it is still continuing after their win last week. The 49ers are coming off a humiliating loss at home against the Falcons. They did not look good at all and the word is that Shaun Hill has regressed. I am sure Coach Singletary whipped the team back into shape this week and they should be ready to go. However, I am feeling like the Texans maybe finally getting things together. If the 49ers had trouble with Roddy White, wait til they have to cover Andre Johnson. Pick: Texans
Evan: Texans

Vikings @ Steelers, Sunday 1pm
Mike: Yuck, I’m so sick of the Vikings I’m going to be rooting for the Steelers on Sunday? Yuck. Are the Vikings beatable or did they just get so far ahead of the Ravens that they hit the showers early? The Steelers are on a roll winning 3 straight. By my calculations, the combined record of the teams the Steelers have beaten is 4-19. The 2-win Chargers really screw with that record. It may not be the logical pick but this is about where the Steelers need to start to get things going. This is just the sort of ugly game they could take at home. Pick: Steelers
Ahad: This is supposed to be a good matchup, but with all the Farve hype I am starting to dislike the Vikings. Please note that I still and always will hate the Steelers. The Steelers should be getting Palomalu back which will help them try and lock up Peterson. The bad weather will play a factor in this game. Home field advantage will loom large as the Steelers tend to win ugly in these kinds of games. Pick: Steelers
Matt: The Steelers are favored by 4.5. Really? You guys are right though. If the weather is bad, the Steelers definitely have the advantage. The Steelers just haven’t put together a full 4 quarter game yet. They have played the Lions and Browns the past few weeks and those games were closer than they should have been. I just think that the Vikings are playing really well now on both sides of the ball. Brett Favre has lots of experience in these types of games, which with the potential bad weather could be a real slugfest. Favre and Peterson need to play ball control and put up points when they get down in the red zone. The Vikings may be a little vulnerable in the secondary against the Steelers passing attack. I think Peterson will be the difference. Pick: Vikings
Evan: Vikings

Bears @ Bengals, Sunday 4:15pm
Mike: To me, this looks like a pretty important game. Which way will the season go for these two teams. Both are roughly in playoff spots now (the Bears are tied with a few teams). It’s really a toss-up. The Bears seem more balanced to me. Plus, I can’t help but expect the Bengals to fall apart, it’s just their nature. Pick: Bears
Ahad: Both teams need this game. The Bears offense is bad and the defense hasn’t looked good either. The Bengals should be able to run the ball; Benson is leading the league in rushing. Look for the Bengals to rebound from last week. Pick: Bengals
Matt: Both teams are coming off tough losses last week. Cedric Benson will be playing against the team that spurned him, so there is that story line in this game. I think the loss of Antwan Odom will definitely hurt the Bengals D. The Bears really need to get Forte going on the ground. He was a key for them last year and he has yet to get on track this season. Plus, he is really hurting my Fantasy team. If the Bears limit the turnovers that hurt them last week, they should come out on top. Pick: Bears
Evan: Bengals

Falcons @ Cowboys, Sunday 4:15pm
Mike: The Cowboys schedule thus far has kept any talk about them being good or not has been quiet. Their losses are to the undefeated Broncos and oncefeated Giants. I don’t think they are very good, but I’m biased. After the Pats loss I was a little concerned with the Falcons, but that seemed unnecessary. It’s looking like with the Saints dominating the the Falcons playing so well there is really only one Wild Card spot up for grabs. Pick: Falcons
Ahad: The Cowboys are a mess right now. The bye week came at a good time for them but the Falcons are clearly the better team. Pick: Atlanta
Matt: These teams are fairly close talent-wise, but the Falcons have been a more disciplined team and are making plays that winning teams make. The Cowboys have been sloppy and inconsistent. Injuries have been a part of that. They struggled against KC two weeks ago, but at least they didn’t lose like another NFC East team did last week. The Cowboys need to get their run game going early and often to get a lead. However, I think Matt Ryan will outplay Tony Romo and will make some plays late that will be the difference. Pick: Falcons
Evan: Cowboys

Cardinals @ Giants, Sunday 8:20pm
Mike: The Cardinals are looking a little better and the Giants got waxed by the Saints. I think this game being here is a result of a weak week. (I didn’t mean for that to come out like that, weak week.) No need for further analysis. Pick: Giants
Ahad: The Cards are still struggling to put things together on both sides of the ball. The Giants were brought back to reality last week by the Saints and come out angry. Look for them to try and run up the score. Pick: Giants
Matt: The Cards top ranked rushing defense will be tested this week by the Giants running attack. The Giants are going to want to run the ball to keep the ball out of Warners hands. He should be able to pick apart the secondary just like Drew Brees did last week. This game will be close, but I like New York at home. Pick: Giants
Evan: Giants

ICH NFL Picks – Week 6

Sports No Comment

A couple of unanimous picks this week: Bengals, Steelers, Packers, Jets, and Falcons. Can’t really be surprised by any of them. There are a lot of bad teams in the league. The first one I’d pick to take off that list would be the Falcons, who are playing the Bears.

Giants @ Saints, Sunday 1pm
Evan: Battle of the unbeatens!  I hope my local carrier gets this game.  The assumption would be a lot of points will be scored here.  Since it is in New Orleans, I’m tempted to go with the Saints.  At the same time this is the kind of game I could see the Giants squeaking out.  I think New York uses its multi-faceted run game to run down the clock and keep the ball out of Drew Brees’s hands.  Pick: Giants
Ahad: The winner of this game has to be considered a favorite in the NFC.  The Giants will try and control the clock by running the ball in order to keep Brees off the field.  Between home field advantage and Sean Payton’s familiarity with the Giants, I am going with the Saints.  Pick:  Saints
Matt: It’s Eli versus his Dad’s old team, well one of them anyways. The Saints have been dominant at home, but the Giants have typically been good on the road. Like my esteemed colleagues said, I am sure the Giants will try to milk the clock with the run game and keep Brees and the Saints offense off the field. The Saints should try to do the same thing and get their run game going to open up the passing game. If the Saints defense keeps playing the way they have so far this season, they should come out on top. I am feeling the Saints at home. Pick: Saints
Mike: The Giants have been considered pretty dominate so far. They are 5-0. Whoa, big stuff. Who’d they have to dominate? Washington, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Kansas City, and Oakland. Oops. Not their fault, but they haven’t been able to prove anything. However, now they have to travel to NOLA who is coming off a bye week. Ut oh. I’m looking at a tight, low scoring game that comes down to Eli having to win the game. Normally I wouldn’t lean on the side of Eli needing to do anything, but this game is in a dome and he should be able to handle the Saints. Pick: Giants

Ravens @ Vikings, Sunday 1pm
Evan: Ravens D sure didn’t show up last week, and they will be playing for pride this week.  I think Ray Lewis will be somewhat fired up.  Brett Favre says this is the best team he’s even been on, but they really haven’t played anyone.  I’m going to go along for the ride for one more week. Pick: Vikings
Ahad: The Ravens will come out fired up after last week’s loss.  This team knows how to get after the qb and Farve is going to be a sitting duck.  This isn’t the same old Raven’s defense, but they will get the job done.  Pick:  Ravens
Matt: The Ravens have faltered a bit the past few weeks, but both were close tough games. The Metrodome is a tough place to play and the Vikings are hot. Cedric Benson became the first back to rush for 100+ yards against the Ravens D is something like 40 games. Can Adrian Peterson do the same? If he does, the Vikings definitely win. I still like the Vikings, whether Peterson gets 100 or not. Pick: Vikings
Mike: I’ve been suspect about the Vikings and you have to be suspect about the Ravens after last week. The Ravens are finally a defense that can handle the Vikings. Forcing a bunch of always entertaining Favre turnovers. Pick: Ravens

Chiefs @ Redskins, Sunday 1pm
Evan: Battle of the politically incorrect team names.  Has anyone done less with more than the Redskins?  A culture of losing is taking shape there and their coach, I think, is in trouble.  Pick: Chiefs
Ahad: The Chiefs almost beat the Cowboys last week and the Redskins are just terrible.  The only good team they have played so far is the Giants.  This could very well be Zorn’s last game as head coach.  Pick:  KC
Matt: It is amazing that the Redskins have played a winless team every week of the season so far. And they are only 2-3! The Chiefs, well, they lost to the Raiders. The Skins need a win to save their coach’s job. I think they get the job done. Pick: Redskins
Mike: Oh my. There isn’t much of a home field advantage in Washington these days. The fans turned on the team weeks ago. The Chiefs have a few pieces on offense that apparently can sort of be put together. The Redskins appear to be hopeless. Pick: Chiefs

Bears @ Falcons, Sunday 8:20pm
Evan: Matt Ryan isn’t a golden boy anymore, but he’s not exactly a dud either.  Bears have yet to prove they are a consistent team.  Pick: Falcons
Ahad: Falcons at home usually means a victory.  The Bears haven’t exactly set the league on fire this year with Cutler.  Pick:  Falcons
Matt: I am still not sold on the Bears as of yet. They do have a quality win over the Steelers. What was more impressive to me was Atlanta’s dismantling of San Fran last week on the road. Now they are back at home and should continue to dominate. Pick: Falcons
Mike: Bears are boring, no? I really have no feelings toward them. The Falcons came off their bye after the Pats loss to dominate a solid 9ers team. Pick: Falcons

Broncos @ Chargers, Monday 8:30pm
Evan: I just can’t believe that the Broncos are as good as their record.  There’s a lot of luck and happenstance in their wins.  They will get shocked back to reality by the bolts. (you like that play on words?) Pick: Chargers
Ahad: I know I have said this before, but Denver isn’t as good as their record.  Their luck will run out eventually.  The Chargers need this game to keep pace in the division.  Look for Rivers to run his mouth and fire up his team.  Pick:  Chargers
Matt: Rivers has lost his buddy Cutler to the Bears. Do you think he will start up some smack talk with Orton now? My only question for this game is…will Ed Hochuli be refereeing? That really could be the difference. All joking aside, the Chargers really need this game, but I am a bit skeptical about them. They are always such slow starters and then turn it on later in the season. If their defense can hold Denver, they have a good chance of winning. I am gonna go with the Chargers, but with little confidence. Pick: Chargers
Mike: Ooo, a toss-up. I haven’t a clue how Denver is undefeated. Well, actually I have some clue. The Chargers just haven’t put things together yet. I think I said if the Broncos won one more they could coast to the playoffs. I didn’t pick them to win against the Pats, but they did. So coast on Broncos. Pick: Chargers

Same deal as college football picks, Evan made his picks via text.

Redskins @ Panthers, Sunday 1pm
Mike: Can anyone win this game? Won’t both teams be TRYING to lose? Actually, the Panthers have had it rough. They’ve had the Eagles, Falcons, and Cowboys. Now they get a team that isn’t really trying. Pick: Panthers
Ahad: Both teams have been bad this year but the Panthers have played better teams. The Redskins are just a bad team. The Panthers have the better running game and will keep it simple to try and prevent Jake’s turnovers. Pick: Panthers
Matt: Carolina is finally back at home, so now their fans can boo Delhomme. Carolina is coming off their bye week, so hopefully they have been able to heal their wounds, both physical and mental. The Redskins’ two wins have been by a combined 5 points over two 0-4 teams. I like Carolina to get their first win and maybe you will hear a few cheers for Jake. Pick: Panthers
Evan: Panthers

Falcons @ 49ers, Sunday 4:05pm
Mike: The 9ers are a Greg Lewis miracle catch from being undefeated. Still, I think the Falcons are better than the Vikings. I’m in toss up mode in this one, which between decent teams means Game of the Week. Since it was windy on the east coast this week, I think that was a sign that I should pick the 9ers. (Poor logic?) Pick: 49ers
Ahad: Falcons off the bye should be strong this week. The most interesting thing for the 9ers this week has been the signing of Crabtree. Not sure how much of an impact he will have this season. Pick: Falcons
Matt: It would certainly seem that Crabtree will have a greater impact than Heyward-Bey in Oakland so far (2 catches). Then again, how does anyone make an impact on the Raiders? Even though they are coming off their bye week, I think this will be a tough trip for the Falcons. The 49ers should be able to move the ball on the Falcons. It comes down to their defense and slowing Matty Ice and Michael Turner Overdrive. I think they get the job done. Pick: 49ers
Evan: Falcons

Patriots @ Broncos, Sunday 4:15pm
Mike: Thanks for playing the unbeaten game Broncos. As a consolation prize I think you only need 1 more win to clinch the AFC West. Pick: Patriots
Ahad: Broncos are not as good as their record shows. Things always tend to work themselves out and this is an example of that. Patriots take care of business on the road. Pick: Patriots
Matt: I am kind of a believer in the Broncos after watching them last week. Their offense has been mediocre at best, but their defense is for real. McDaniels seems to be getting the best out of his bunch, but now he is facing his mentor. Belichick typically gets the best of his former staff members in head to head matchups, but I think it will be tough playing in Denver where the crowd is loud and the air is thin. It will be low scoring, but I think the Broncos pull it out with a late FG. Pick: Broncos
Evan: Pats

Texans @ Cardinals, Sunday 4:15pm
Mike: The Texans just love to give up points. The Cardinals used to love to score them. The Texans should help them to find their lost love. Pick: Cardinals
Ahad: Both of these teams confuse me. Everyone always thinks they will be better than they actually are. In this case, I think the Cards will be better. Pick: Cards
Matt: The Cards have had two weeks to stew over the spanking they took at the hands of the Colts. They should be more focused and ready to execute. Houston just seems to be a perennial 8-8 team. They win one, lose one, win one, lose one. There is never any consistency. They won last week, so it looks like a loss this week. Pick: Cardinals
Evan: Texans

Jets @ Dolphins, Monday 8:30pm
Mike: The Jets finally lost. Will that rattle Sanchez? Maybe a little. Good thing they are playing the Dolphins. Pick: Jets
Ahad: The Jets will load the box and force the Dolphins to pass the ball. The Miami offense wasn’t that good before Pennington got hurt and is worse with Henne in there. Pick: Jets
Matt: The Fish finally got off the schneid last week. The Bills will help with that. I actually think this game will be really close. However, I think the Jets are playing too well on defense and will harass Henne into several mistakes. That will be the difference in the game. Pick: Jets
Evan: Jets

NFL Week 4 Preview

Ravens @ Patriots, Sunday 1pm
Mike: The Pats looked much better against the Falcons last week. They may have things back on track. Still, the Ravens are going to be the best team in football for about the first 6 weeks. That’s how this works. At the end of the year some team that looks terrible right now will wind up making a run to the Super Bowl. Pick: Ravens
Ahad: Ravens are rolling right now and the Pats aren’t at full speed yet. Pick: Ravens
Matt: It’s Tom Brady versus one of the top young QB’s for the 4th week in a row. This time it is Flacco, and the Ravens right now are considered one of the, if not the best, teams in the league. The Patriots played better last week, especially in the run game and defensively, but can they keep it up two weeks in a row? I have my doubts. Pick: Ravens
Evan: I just want to be different. Pick: Pats

Jets @ Saints, Sunday 4:05pm
Mike: End of the line for the Jets. If the Ravens are the best all-around, the Saints are right behind, with the best offense. Brees didn’t get any TD passes last week. That makes Drew angry. Pick: Saints
Ahad: The streak for the Jets ends this week. A rookie QB can’t keep winning like this. Brees at home takes care of business. Pick: Saints
Matt: This ought to be a fun one. Can the Jets defense slow Brees and the New Orleans offense? They may be able to slow them down, but stop them? That is another story. And what does Gregg Williams have in store for Sanchez? I think the Saints offense puts up just enough points to get past the Jets in a close one. Pick: Saints
Evan: I want to be different again. I think Sanchez is magical. Pick: Jets

Cowboys @ Broncos, Sunday 4:15pm
Mike: Possibly my favorite matchup of the week. Denver has been a favorite of mine the last two weeks for my ICH wager points. Of course, playing the Browns and Raiders will do that to you. I think this Broncos team is right around where the Cowboys rate. Whenever you go in with the mindset of ‘Make Orten beat us’ and have the talent to do so, that’s a good sign. Pick: Cowboys
Ahad: Who is going to play rb for the ‘Boys? The Boys have not yet put it together. Broncos win this one at home thanks to B-Dawk. Pick: Denver
Matt: Well, Marion Barber looks like he is good to go for this game, but Tashard Choice can more than hold his own as the lead back. The Broncos have rolled to their 3-0 record against some weak opponents and with a touch of luck. I think the game comes down to which team’s defense can stop the other’s run game. The Broncos come back down to Earth in this one. Pick: Cowboys
Evan: I didn’t think this would be a close one at the beginning of the year, but the Broncos are playing well. Still, it won’t be enough. Pick: Boys

Chargers @ Steelers, Sunday 8:20pm
Mike: Oh, Steelers. Must you tease every year. We all know you are going to make a Super Bowl run. So why do you have to suck for the first 10 weeks. They are so close to being 0-3, but also so close to being 3-0. Steelers should be able to shut down the Chargers running game. Rivers has been throwing well, but so has Roethlisberger. Pick: Steelers
Ahad: The Chargers will have trouble winning in the Burg. Expect a close game with a late fg deciding it. Reed kicks much better at home. Pick: Steelers
Matt: I can’t believe this game is so early in the season. Both teams are slow starters out of the gate but turn it on in the second half of the season and playoffs. The Chargers are playing a little better now than the Steelers. The Steelers are always tough at home and give the Chargers trouble, but I think the Chargers get some payback here. Pick: Chargers
Evan: You don’t think the Steelers are motivated after that loss to the Bengals? Pick: Pittsburgh

Packers @ Vikings, Monday 8:30pm
Mike: Oh no. I’m going to avoid this game and all coverage of this game. I still don’t think the Vikings are all that great. The type of team that will go into Week 17 needing a few things to go right to get in the playoffs. Pick: Packers
Ahad: Forget Favre, this game is about AP running wild. Green Bay won’t be able to stop him. Pick: Vikings
Matt: I agree with Ahad. This game is about Adrian Peterson. Can the Packers stop him? Probably not. I am wondering if there is more pressure on Aaron Rodgers in this game or Favre. I am thinking it is Rodgers, and I feel like he will try too hard in this game and make some mistakes. That is why I like the Vikings. Pick: Vikings
Evan: I am going to fall into the trap of watching all of the coverage for this. Also, I will not be able to watch any football at all this week, so I will want my fix. I think Favre, Peterson, and Harvin run wild. PicK: Vikes

Looks a little slow on the picking this week. The Lions are a popular pick this week, due mostly to the Skins awful outing last week.

NFL Week 3 Preview

Falcons @ Patriots, Sunday 1pm
Mike: Brady did not look good last week. You have to imagine he’s going to get it together, right? For the Falcons, Matt Ryan seems to already be a big fan of Tony Gonzalez. From an analysis point of view, you have to go Falcons. But when it comes to actually making a pick, this is the sort of game where you underestimate the Pats and they remind you that they are still here. Pick: Patriots
Evan: Oh boy, I don’t know what to make of this game. Are the Patriots dead in the water? I do know that Brady is sucking the life out of my fantasy team. The Falcons look good, but I have to believe New England has more life in them, especially playing at home. Pick: Pats
Matt: I am starting to think the window for the Patriots and their dominance is shrinking rapidly. They should really be 0-2, and just have not looked good on offense or defense at times. The Falcons on the other hand, are playing really well. The questions are still there regarding their defense, but they have been solid so far. I think Matty Ice plays well in his return to where he played his college ball and Michael Turner has a big day running the ball. Pick: Falcons
Ahad: Is it too early to say this is a make or break game for Patriots? They haven’t looked good this season on either side of the ball. This team lost a lot of leadership from last season and has yet to replace it. I think this is the week the Patriots get their act together. Pick: Patriots

Titans @ Jets, Sunday 1pm
Mike: Initial reaction: Titans D messes with Sanchez. Second reaction: Where was the Titans D last week? The Jets gave up 7 points to Houston, Tennessee gave up 34. I see a difference there. The Titans need a win and the Jets bandwagon will explode with a 3rd win. Pick: Titans
Evan: I’m on board the Mark Sanchez bandwagon. I’ve always thought the Titans were overrated and I think they are finally playing to the level that their mediocre existence deserves. Pick: Jets
Matt: I would really like to pick the Jets to win this game, but I know I should not underestimate the Titans. Their defense hasn’t been playing well, but they should turn that around soon. The Jets are coming off a big win over the Patriots and may not be as up for this game. Rex Ryan will probably prevent that from happening, but I think the Titans finally get a W. Pick: Titans
Ahad: The Titans need this game more than the Jets do. I don’t think the Titans can come back from an 0-3 start and make the playoffs. So far I have been impressed by Rex Ryan’s style and the team seems to have taken a liking to him. The Jets might slip after coming off a big win last week. Pick: Titans

49ers @ Vikings, Sunday 1pm
Mike: I think I’m looking forward to this game the most this weekend. Titans/Jets and Panthers/Cowboys are right there with it. This game is more intriguing because it will figure out a lot more about teams we aren’t sure about. The 9ers have been pretty good against the run so far this year and AP may not be 100%. If they can shut it down can Favre actually do anything? AP should do just enough to win. Pick: Vikings
Evan: First home game for Favre. Niners defense has been sick, as has Frank Gore. Favre has yet to do anything more than be a Trent Dilfer figure, and I don’t remember him getting paid $12 million. Even with Favre just not losing the game, the Vikes have plenty of weapons. Pick: Minnesota
Matt: This a good matchup of two somewhat similar teams. They run the ball well, stop the run, and their QB’s are good game managers. I think the Vikings have a little more talent offensively, and AP at less than 100 percent is still better than most RB’s at 100 percent. I think the Vikings stay undefeated. Pick: Vikings
Ahad: This game will be a good test for the 49ers to see how they compare to what is supposed to be a top team in the NFC. I don’t think the 49ers have enough offense to match the Vikings. This game will be Peterson vs Gore and I will take Peterson any day of the week. Pick: Vikings

Redskins @ Lions, Sunday 1pm
Mike: Awesome. What a matchup. One can only hope for another 9-7 game like last week’s Rams/Redskins game. That game had to wake up the Skins. Had to. Poor Lions. How many picks for Stafford this week? Pick: Redskins
Evan: Matchup of two awful teams. One of two times this year I will pick the Lions to win, because think of how much fun it will be to pick the Lions when they finally win. Pick: Detroit
Matt: I think the Redskins are ripe for an upset. The Lions have been playing well in the first halves of their games before getting blown out, but they also played the Vikings and the Saints. The Redskins have been in a little bit of disarray offensively and their coach has been called out by a Hall of Famer for his play calling. Detroit is at home, and it has been a long time since they won. Come on guys, do it for your fans! Pick: Lions
Ahad: Worst game of the week. The Lions might smell victory on this on. The Skins have a been a major disappointment so far this season. I can’t believe I am going to say this, but I am going with the Lions. Pick: Lions

Dolphins @ Chargers, Sunday 4:15pm
Mike: Dolphins should be able to run, Chargers should be able to pass, but the Chargers should be able to run a little too. Pick: Chargers
Evan: Quote from the local sports talk guys about the Dolphins “we will not be talking about them anymore because they are the epitome of mediocrity. We want them to either go 2-14 of 12-4, but they don’t even play adequate football in an exciting fashion.” Pick: Bolts
Matt: Wow, this has been a tough schedule for the Dolphins so far. I expect them pull out all sorts of trick plays this week. San Diego lost a tough one last week to a good Baltimore team. I think they are ready to bounce back. Pick: Chargers
Ahad: San Diego lost a tough game to the Ravens last week. I still am not sure about trying to run the ball up the middle on 4th down to essentially end the game. Rivers has been playing well and despite the fact that LT is out, I still think they come out on top. The Dolphins offense is not explosive enough to keep up. Pick: Chargers

Standings
Matt 8-3 (4-1)
Ahad 7-4 (2-3)
Mike 6-5 (3-2)
Evan 6-5 (2-3)
