Marco Coolio

Whenever Kimmel goes to the barbershop, it’s gold. It’s got to be very tempting just to do this every night. This time he asks about swimming.

Really!?! Vick

Mike, TV No Comment

The first ever Really!?! with Seth and Amy was about Michael Vick getting caught with pot at the airport. Ahh, the good old days.

from @sethmeyers21, I might just have to start following him.

And I know you know the feeling

Mike, Music No Comment

Today’s song that caught my ear on iTunes has turned out to be kinda spooky. First, the group: Rehasher. A Less Than Jake side project. Take Less Than Jake but speed it up, make it heavier, and punk it up a bit and you have Rehasher. Their only album, Off Key Melodies, came out in 2004. I didn’t think they had any others out, and I was right. Their 2nd album comes out on Friday. Crazy, I haven’t thought about Rehasher in a while and they come back into my life the week their new album comes out. I think iTunes’ random function has subliminal marketing. This song is called Sinking, check it out and I’ll check out their new album this week.

When it’s my moment in the sun, Oh how beautiful I’ll be

Mike, Music, TV No Comment

I’ve been watching Ed again and in Season 2 they changed the theme song from Foo Fighters – Next Year for whatever reason. Foo Fighters were back for Season 3. They used Clem Snide – Moment in the Sun. I completely forgot this song, probably because I never heard it anywhere besides when watching Ed. It’s been in my head off and on for the past week. That meant that I had to find it on YouTube and see if I could get it in your head.

Triumph at a Dog Hotel

Mike, TV No Comment

The people in the dog hotel all seemed to be ok with the joke. The people bringing the dogs in don’t care how much it costs and the people running the place much realize the same thing. Heck, if I had a dog and a ton of extra cash, I’d take my dog to a place exactly like this.

Why did Hulu break it in to two parts? Makes no sense.

A Song is Not a Business Plan

Mike, Music No Comment

With my commute down to about 10 minutes the iPod doesn’t make the trip in the car anymore. It’s usually just 10 minutes of flipping through Sirius channels, hoping to find two songs to fill the ride. So I’ve been starved for music. Yesterday I was working on some stuff on the computer and actually used iTunes for music for a change. Crazy, I know. I need to get back to utilizing my playlists and sharing some of the songs that catch my ear. Like this one from The Rocket Summer. It managed to knock Good Girls Go Bad out of my head, it had been in there for three days. The YouTube version I found is live, but is pretty solid. The Rocket Summer – A Song is Not a Business Plan …

Wayne Brady is going to host the new Let’s Make a Deal

Mike, TV No Comment

Let’s first look at the new Let’s Make a Deal part. Awesome! One of the greats from GSN (what? it was new once?). Although after thinking about it, part of its greatness was that it was the 60s. So a goat and a tricycle behind a curtain was a great terrible prize. What are they going to do current day? Are they even going to be allowed to have animals?

Now bring in Wayne Brady. I immediately picture him doing a lot of singing and dancing around. Which would not help the show. Now if he keeps it under control and is just energetic running around the audience, then he has a chance.

This show’s success depends on two things: if the terrible prizes can generate a reaction and if the audience can pull of crappy costumes.

When I first read the story I was excited for the show but not Wayne Brady, now I’ve flipped. I’ve talked myself into Brady but can’t really picture a way that the show will work. It should be at least as good as Price is Right, which to me, says very little.

Owl City

Mike, Music No Comment

Heard Owl City on Sirius tonight. It caught my ear as something very familiar but I couldn’t place it. I’m going with it being like Death Cab or Postal Service. I’m not sure about that though because I don’t like either of those bands (just a few Death Cab songs). Here’s the song I heard, Fireflies …

During my searching this other song, Hello Seattle, came up a lot. Not as big a fan at first listen, but I’ve apparently got a lot of tracks to catch up on. Here’s that one for a more well-rounded Owl City experience …

Richard & Sal Prank Pizza Place

Entertainment, Mike No Comment

I’ve been wondering about what people call plain pizza around the country after some blank stares after ordering a plain slice. That’s why I enjoyed this Richard & Sal prank call from Stern this week.

Kimmel Upfronts

Entertainment, Mike, TV No Comment

Yesterday I read a bunch of posts about how Kimmel went crazy and tore into ABC and all the upfront nonsense. Thankfully the video is up on YouTube now. I’m not sure where all those reports came from. He’s a comedian and he was there being a, ummm, comedian? Wasn’t that the point? If I had watched this before reading all the crap online yesterday I wouldn’t have thought for a second that he would have upset anyone.

I can’t really complain about ABC’s upfronts too much. They are bringing back Better Off Ted and Scrubs.
