Thew new Weezer album comes out tomorrow. I’m pretty excited for this one. The first single already has me hooked. It’s my favorite Weezer song, well, it actually hasn’t been that long. I liked Troublemaker and Greatest Man That Ever Lived on the last album. Still, I’m hoping for an all-around solid effort. I’ve been meaning to do a post about my favorite bands ever, Weezer might wind up at the top of that list. Hopefully this album will push me to write that.

I didn’t get to see all the morning shows that dress up. Always an enjoyable time. Out of the late night shows, only Kimmel seems to ever do anything. And they go all out. This year Jimmy was Big Bird (who apparently is going to be on the show next week?) and the rest of the staff was other Sesame Street characters.
Each year they do a half-and-half costumes bit. It’s usually just bad puns, but always good for a few chuckles.

I’ve been watching Carson Comedy Classics on Reelz Channel. It was a syndicated best of The Tonight Show that ran in the early 80s. Since it ran then, it doesn’t contain anything from the last 10 years Carson hosted. Obviously there are a lot of references that I don’t get. Seeing as I wasn’t born when these aired. It is funny recently to watch them and heard jokes about Swine Flu and Roman Polanski. Odd that things come back 30 years later.
I’ve seen lots of Carson highlight tapes from after the show ended. So I’ve seen most of his recurring characters. One that I didn’t remember seeing before watching these shows is El Moldo, the mentalist. He gets me everytime. Carson seems to crack up every time he does it. He makes obvious statements and passes it off as him being a mentalist. His main interest is taking money from his subjects.
This video was the only older one I could find on YouTube. Funny, I just watched this one the other day.

Take one of the catchiest songs from last year and cover it with what I think is the most underrated bands and you get awesomeness.
When I clicked on this on Absolute Punk, I figured it would be some crappy live video, But no, they went all out and did a whole music video for it. The initial excitement did wear off as the cover is pretty similar to the original version. Still, Zebrahead is awesome and the song is, unfortunately, still catchy.
Update: Did some more research and this is from Zebrahead’s upcoming cover album. Here are the details:

This week’s Modern Family was fantastic. At the end, after Dylan made a great speech about how he wishes he had a family like that they asked him to sing one of his songs. Oh the suspense as you were just waiting for the song to be so so wrong. They still managed to hit it out of the park. I hope you stuck around for the credits as they jumped to each member of the family singing the song the next day as it was stuck in their head. ABC made a great move and made a music video for it.
This week Modern Family cemented the title of my favorite new show this year. Glee is really good and FlashForward could be cool (as long as it doesn’t go the way of LOST). I enjoy Modern Family the most each week and I’ve found a bunch of people that also have gotten hooked so its actually a show I can talk about. Not like some of the shows that only one or two (or no) other people watch besides me.

I can’t believe that Colbert has been on for 4 years. I do remember that it premiered on my sister’s birthday, I just didn’t think it had been 4 years. I loved that first week but couldn’t fathom how he was going to keep that character fresh for the show to stick around. Now I look forward to it as much as The Daily Show and at its best, its even more entertaining.
Of course, another year means another portrait. It’s extra awesome this year. Usually the portrait is only slightly changed, but this year it’s of him just after shaving his head.

This isn’t the funniest clip ever. But it sort of shows why Jimmy is awesome, and might be the best in late night right now. Who else is singing? Well, Conan sings, but in that really annoying fake voice. This is Jimmy trying to sing, but obviously can’t.

If I know that this is the next song that is going to get stuck in my head, will that keep it from happening? Doubtful. The next hotness …

Sorry to share, but this one has been stuck in my head for the past week or so …

Vinny just gets me. Especially his producers eating spaghetti the entire time. I think he could have anyone on and I’d enjoy it.

Kimmel took the idea of T-Pain’s iPhone app and applied it to Obama’s health care speeches. I’d say this is good for a 5 point bump in the polls.
