Super Dave on Conan
6:49pm Wed Nov 11, 2009

I love Super Dave. I used to watch his ridiculous show when I was little. He was outstanding on Arrested Development. And I crack up during every scene of his in Curb Your Enthusiasm. I didn’t even know he had a new show coming to Spike. He was on Conan to promote it. There is a preview on Saturday at 11pm and then its on Tuesdays at 9pm.

In this clip he claims that La Bamba wrote some jokes and bet him that they would get laughs. Super Dave didn’t believe him, so he read them. Probably the dirtiest jokes you’re going to hear on Conan’s Tonight Show.

#12 – Dance, Dance

Finally one everyone knows. From From Under the Cork Tree. I actually didn’t like this one at first. It was different from everything else. It definitely grew on me as I listened to this album over and over and over again. Then it became a single.

#13 – Saturday

Some of the songs on Take This To Your Grave I thought would make all the teenage girls even more excited about FOB. Except this one. This would have scared them to death.

Fall Out Boy – New Music – More Music Videos

Don’t worry, tomorrow I’ll finally pick something from a different album.

#14 – Chicago Is So Two Years Ago

Another track from Take This to Your Grave. No surprise. Out of the 22 songs I picked out I think all but one song from Take This to Your Grave made the cut. That one song wasn’t easy to leave out.

With Fall Out Boy’s Greatest Hits coming out, I tried to make my own list of what I’d put on the album. I think I picked out 22 that are solid and I’m going to post my top 15 choices up until it comes out.

Google The Count

I’ve been waiting for this for the past week …

The Count is my favorite Sesame Street character of all. It probably foreshadowed my love of math once school started. I was remembering my favorite Count bit of all time but it sounded too crazy to have actually happened. The Count was coming home with a date to his castle. It’s raining very hard but Count has to count each key as he tries to get into the castle. The Count on a date? That’s just ridiculous. Apparently not, thanks to Google. Not only did it happen, but his date was Susan Sarandon! I found it on YouTube and it’s exactly what I remember. I can’t tell you how happy I was just watching this.

Mark Twain Prize: Bill Cosby
7:34pm Sun Nov 8, 2009

On PBS this week they aired the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor which was presented to Bill Cosby. If you have a chance to watch it, do it. It’s outstanding. Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and a bunch of others pay tribute to Cosby. They mixed in a lot of clips from his standup and tv work. This is the audio of his Chocolate Cake bit which was shown during the show.

I didn’t think it was possible but after watching this I’m even more excited to see him perform in May.

Here is the list of past winners. That’s some lineup.

#15 – “Tell That Mick He Just Made My List of Things to Do Today”

With Fall Out Boy’s Greatest Hits coming out, I tried to make my own list of what I’d put on the album. I think I picked out 22 that are solid and I’m going to try to post my top 15 choices up until it comes out. I tried to cut it down the best I could, 15 was the diving line. There are a lot more songs I love than I expected.

This one is off Take This to Your Grave. I couldn’t find anything decent on YouTube, but I was able to find this one from the Live album on imeem, so we’ll try this.

SNL: Taylor Swift

I think this was the best SNL of the season thus far. Perhaps because I just didn’t have high expectations for Taylor Swift. Not that I thought she would be bad, I’ve just never seen her do anything but sing and the few interviews I’d seen she was always fairly quiet. On SNL they really made her do all sorts of characters. She pulled them all off. In some skits where I thought she might crack up she kept a straight face.

My favorite of the night was the Digital Short Twilight spoof with Frankensteins. With this idea it would be just about impossible to screw up.

The other clip I wanted to post was Amy Poehler appearing on Weekend Update to do Really?!? about Goldman Sachs getting supply of Swine Flu vaccine. I didn’t see it on Hulu, I’ll have to keep looking.

Instead, here is Scared Straight this week. Something about this bit always gets me. It might be the one good things Keenan does on the show. Taylor Swift played an inmate with cornrows. Stick around to the end as a couple of the guys broke up.

Old school Big Bird reads the alphabet

Big Bird was a guest on Kimmel this week. Before he came out, they showed a clip of Big Bird from the first season, 1969. It was amazing, this was not the Big Bird I know. I couldn’t find that clip, but I found an even better one on YouTube where Big Bird isn’t sure what this word is.

Watch the Kimmel interview here and here. I’m not sure anyone could do a better job interviewing Big Bird. No easy task. On the show Josh Jackson was the lead guest. I’m not sure how anyone goes out in front of Big Bird. I think his stardom is underestimated.

Maybe it’s all the new fall music coming out at the same time but I seem to be getting a lot of songs stuck in my head these days. This one has been in there for the past few days.

Jason Derulo – Whatcha Say

In the car I’ve been on Sirius Hits 1 almost all the time, the alt stuff right now isn’t catching my ear. These things go in waves. I feel I need to even things out and listen to some Weezer and Say Anything this weekend.

Weezer isn’t the only album out today. Say Anything’s self-titled is also out. I listened to a stream last week and it’s very good. I’ll probably be buying it this week. Today I bought Weezer because Amazon MP3 had it as the DOTD.

Here is the single from Say Anything. I actually heard it on Sirius on the way in to work this morning. That really isn’t all that crazy. A couple of Say Anything songs from the last two albums got pretty decent play.
