Bubble Soccer on Fallon
10:46pm Thu May 17, 2012
No Responses
  • I haven’t seen anything funny from Fallon’s monologue or interviews. But random bits and songs … awesome.
  • Colbert + Fallon = always gold.
  • In the week after Meet the Press being the origin of THE story of the week, David Gregory does this? How awesome. He could have easily left Fallon a message, ‘Look Jimmy, not sure if you noticed, but I just arrived as host of Meet The Press. I know I’ve been doing it for a while, but now I’m a big shot. So I won’t be able to do your bobble soccer bit.’ (He’s big enough to purposely get the name of the bit wrong.)
  • Can I number inside of bullets? Cause I’m about to.
    1. Where can I get these?
    2. Is there a better ‘field’ than these elevator doors for goals?
      1. Were people upset that a few elevators were out of service for a bit?
      2. What would you do if your elevator door opened to a bubble soccer game? You’d think you’d landed on an alien planet, right?

BookArc for iPad

I spent a lot of time looking for the right stand when I got my original iPad two years ago. I wanted something that I could use in landscape mode (Apple Dock, you’re out). There were a lot that were adjustable. There were a lot that were ridiculously expensive.

I eventually decided on a BookArc. It was a little pricey at $40 and was not adjustable. It wound up being exactly what I needed. It’s a solid piece, no worries that the iPad is going anywhere. I liked it so much that I wound up buying another some time later. A nice bonus: the price had dropped to $30.

The only problem I’ve had with the BookArc after two years was that one of the rubber feet came off. Not too surprising, I move them around a lot and even took one of them with me when I’d travel. Luckily I didn’t lose the foot and it glued back on just fine.

Like I said, I have two of them. I keep one next to my computer. It’s almost like a second monitor. It works a little better since Lion handles the second monitor in such an odd way. I usually use it to play videos while I’m on my computer. Here’s how it looks:

IMG 0458

The other is on my night stand. Again for videos, sometimes Netflix (not sure why, I have 8 different ways of watching Netflix on my TV), and recently the SlingPlayer app to watch my TiVo that is in my living room. I don’t have cable in my room, just XBox, a Blu-Ray player, and Google TV (which I’m not even sure is hooked up).

I now have an iPad 3 and the BookArcs sill work fine. I bought a Smart Cover with the iPad 3, but it is no where near as sturdy as the BookArc. I only use my Smart Cover when I need to put my iPad in a bag to take it somewhere.

I’d recommend getting as many BookArcs as you think you’ll need. They really should sell a 2-pack.

The Boys of Summer – Things in Twos

This would be on the summer soundtrack, except it came out in 2010. I’m a little disappointed, from the sounds of this song The Boys of Summer should have been my favorite band for the past 2 years.

SNL: Will Ferrell

My favorite clip from the show doesn’t even include Will Ferrell. Not too surprising after watching, he felt sort of absent most of the show.

All of Weekend Update was solid, I thought Seth hit on every one of his jokes. There was a lot of good stuff throughout the episode: The 100th Digital Short, The Loud Sneezing Ad, Funkytown Debate (which I thought was half as good as it could have been, but the idea made up for that half), and the return of Greg Stink for some ESPN Classic.

Saturday is the finale with Mick Jagger. I have no idea how that will go but they usually have some strong material in the finale.

Dinner in Scotland

Isn’t the question of who you’d want to have dinner with a college application staple? I never had to answer it, but in case I ever do need to, now I have an answer: David Sedaris, Rashida Jones, Craig Ferguson, and whoever that other person is (she has a reality show of some sort about Alaska on Discovery).

The only lack of amazement comes from this going exactly as I would have expected. David Sedaris with very inappropriate topics during dinner, Craig helping continue those topics, and Rashida being disgusted and curious all at the same time. Even the Alaskan helped out by not knowing anything and having David explain things in further detail.

Craig is in Scotland this week. It only reinforces the fact that I need a job so I can visit Scotland. I think it might be on the top of my list.

Also in the episode, was a great interview with Mila Kunis, in a graveyard. That seems like enough explanation. I don’t ever watch Craig, but I enjoy the randomness I saw in this episode. I’ll be TiVo’ing the rest of this week.

I’ve never run out of gas in my car. Yet I always fill it up. I have no evidence that my car actually needs gas to run.

Tree surgeons abuse wordplay more than any occupation I can think of.

I bought a tv antenna in an attempt to get some channels in my bedroom. End result: 2 channels, PBS and NBC. Now my tv is always on NBC when I turn it on. I think this must be how Leno gets ratings.

Most of the time I spend on Facebook is spent resisting posting funny comments about people’s baby pictures.

I’m scared thinking about how much I’d be willing to pay for Starburst jelly beans without grape.

I always thought I’d have to make the movie about my life, but then I saw Tokyo Drift.

Be Careful What You Ask For

Do you have those songs that instantly take you back a few years? I assume everybody does. That can get a bit nostalgic. But what about when you hear a new song that takes you back? That’s a lot more fun. This might be cheating. I loved this band years ago and they sound exactly the same.

Everclear. So Much for the Afterglow was the first CD, first anything, I ordered online. I loved the song Everything to Everyone so much I had to pre-order the CD. Some of their albums after I didn’t love as much, but this new song sounds like those old days and the high school me still inside instantly started rocking out.

Everclear – Be Careful What You Ask For

The album, Invisible Stars, comes out June 26th. I was shocked that it’s their first in 6 years. Although SMftA came out in 97. I had both Volumes of Songs from and American Movie, but not much stuck. I don’t ever remember their two after that.

Is a professional photographer traveling with them?

After some late night On Demand browsing last week I decided to check out Best Friends Forever. I had heard some good things but hadn’t caught it on TV. Probably because NBC cancelled it almost as soon as it started. I think they only made 6 episodes and only 4 aired before getting cancelled. Those 4 episodes are On Demand and on Hulu (3 of them don’t need Hulu Plus right now).

The entire show is pretty much like this. It would be tiring if it weren’t so great.

Every week, without fail, this image drives me crazy.

IMG 0004

It’s just an image they use each week heading into an early commercial break. It starts out ok, then they blur the image. That’s when the image looks like this and it says WONDER WHFFL. Before the blur, you see WONDER WHEEL just fine. I get the artistic blur effect, but when E’s turn into F’s, that’s too much blur!

I haven’t a clue why it drives me so crazy, but it does.

I was watching this week’s show on my iPad via Slingbox so I was finally able to get a screen cap without too much effort.

btw, this week’s show, with Sofia Vergara was pretty bad. I think I laughed more at the Lindsey Lohan one.

I Would Run To You

Maybe I just like this because the Juno song has been in my head for the last week and this is a similar style. Or maybe it’s just a great ad.

I saw this ad during the One Tree Hill finale (I’ll miss you OTH, tear). A 2 and a half minute ad on network TV. I guess Nike matched the OTH audience to strong women wanting pink running shoes. That’s not my demo, but I still loved the ad.

Well done by Nike. I was thinking ‘It’d be a good idea to put the lyrics in the video notes’ and that’s exactly what they did. On top of that, they put the song up for download. With a marketing department like this, I expect big things for Nike.

I don’t fall for ads too often, but I do fall for orange often, so I want this.

Is this even allowed? Can you do an entire music video with scenes from a TV show?

Anyway, following my blog rules: FNL clips + good song = post.

The Forecast – Clear Eyes, Full Hears

The Forecast album, “Like a Habit” comes out 4/17, they are streaming it on fb if you’re curious.
